MARRIGAL 314 IS READY - PERHAPS. AFTER MUCH STUDY I DECIDED THAT THE QUINTO
PART WAS DISPLACED BY ONE BAR STARTING AT MEASURE 33. SO THE CURRENT VERSION
OF THIS HAS THE QUINTO SHIFTED OVER ALL THE WAY UP THROUGH THE 1ST ENDING.
THERE ARE ALSO FUNNY NOTES. BAR 3, TENOR, SHOULD PERHAPS BE A 'C'. THIS
WOULD MATCH UP WITH THE MAIN MOTIVE OF THE CANTO AND QUINTO - ALSO THE CANTO
AT 11 HAS THIS MOTIVE. AT BAT 15 THERE IS A B FLAT IN THE BASS BUT B NATURAL
IN THE ALTO AND THEN THE TENOR. THE CHORD IN BAR 21 HAS C SHARP IN THE BASS.
PERHAPS THIS SHOULD BE 'A'?
BARS 24-25-26 ARE QUITE STRANGE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO SUGGEST HERE. THE
D SHARP DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT.
AT BAR 45-46 (NEW VERSION) THE F SHARP OF THE TENOR IS AGAINST AN 'E' IN THE
QUINTO. ALSO IN THE NEW VERSION, BAR 54 ENDS UP HAVING 'A' AND 'A SHARP'.
TO ME THE A NATURAL SOUNDS BETTER FOR BOTH PARTS.
IN BAR 59, TENOR, THERE IS A D SHARP. IT CAN'T BE RIGHT. PERHAPS THE TWO
TENOR NOTES THERE SHOULD BE G AND F SHARP. BUT THEN WE SOULD NEED G ALSO
IN THE PREVIOUS BAR.
FINALLY THE ENDING IS STRANGE. PERHAPS THE PIECE IS INCOMPLETE? IS THIS
REALLY WHERE THE ORIGINAL POEM ENDS? THIS DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANY OF HIS
OTHER ENDINGS.
